The battery is the heart of your system and usually its biggest single cost. Choosing between lithium and tubular comes down to lifespan, depth of discharge and budget.

Lithium (LiFePO₄)

Lasts 10+ years, discharges deeply (80–90% usable), is compact and virtually maintenance-free. It costs more upfront but far less per usable kilowatt-hour over its life.

Tubular

Cheaper to buy, proven and repairable — but only about 50% usable depth of discharge, a shorter 2–4 year life, and it needs ventilation and occasional maintenance.

Which is right for you?

If you can stretch the upfront cost, lithium almost always wins on total cost of ownership. Tubular is a sensible entry point on a tight budget. Our audit and team help you weigh it for your backup needs and budget.
